"I’ve found that growing up means being honest. About what I want. What I need. What I feel. Who I am."
"Don’t get married because you think he or she is “the one.” Trust me, they’re not. There’s no such thing! But do get married when you see who God is making somebody to be, and it lights you up. When you want to be a part of that story of transformation. That journey to the future. when you are well aware of it will be a long and bumpy ride, but you don’t want to miss one mile. Because you believe in God’s calling on them, and you want in."

“Repentance is a change of mind that bears fruit in a changed life” (Ryrie Study Bible).
Repentance isn’t saying you’re sorry to God but intending to continue to commit the same sin over and over again. If there’s no change in your attitude towards the sin and no subsequent change in your behavior, then you haven’t repented. True repentance signifies a change of heart, a desire to stop committing the sin, and to start obeying God instead. Read Psalm 51 to see what true repentance looks like.
In Psalm 51, David prayed to God for forgiveness after David committed adultery with Bathsheba. David didn’t make excuses for his sin [He never blamed Bathsheba and he never said, “But God, it’s not my fault! It was all her fault for tempting me!”]. He owned up to his sin and he was determined to change his behavior. David said, “For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment” (Psalm 51:3-4).
He asked God not only to forgive him, but to change his heart, to “create in me a pure heart,” and wash him clean of his sin; he wanted to change and be pure and righteous in God’s sight. David wanted to be saved from sin, not just from the guilt that he experienced because of it. He knew that he deserved God’s judgment. He didn’t confess his sin merely in the hopes that he could avoid punishment; he confessed because he was truly sorry for his sin and he knew that he needed God’s help to overcome his sin and become pure and righteous.
It’s clear that true repentance causes us to want to please God instead of appease our flesh. God’s grace by which we are saved from the eternal consequences of our sin is never an excuse to sin. As Paul states in Romans 6:1-2: “What shall we say, then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?” Likewise our faith in Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross to forgive our sins is not an excuse to sin and disobey God’s commandments, either. “Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law” (Romans 3:31). What God is looking for is true repentance, a changed heart, and obedience to Him. We can’t just pay lip service to God. He wants to change our hearts. “For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise” (Psalm 51:16-17).
“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Father, I am sorry for sinning against You. Please give me the desire to obey You instead of my sinful nature. Please forgive me of my sins and cleanse me so that I may be pure and righteous in Your sight. Please help me to obey You always. You are faithful to provide a way out of temptation. Thank You, Father. Please help me to see and take the way out that You provide for me when I am tempted. I thank You for Your abundant mercy, grace, and love. Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the cross for the forgiveness of my sins. Please wash me clean of my sins. Without His sacrifice, without the shedding of His blood, I could never become pure in Your sight. I cannot save myself. I cannot be truly good by my own efforts. Because of my sinful nature, I cannot change my own heart. I need You, Father, to change my heart and help me to be more like Jesus in righteousness. Sanctify me in Your truth, O Lord. Thank You for saving me through Your grace, by my faith in Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
God bless you!
